History of APT
In 1991, guided by the influence of Reverend John Fletcher, Saint
Paul's United Methodist Church introduced a Christian outreach
program we now call The Alzheimer's Project.  As Christians and
Methodists, Saint Paul's adheres to the tenets of "The Social Creed"
which includes a commitment to the "rights of the aging" and "the
improvement of the quality of life."

Even with the advancements in science and medical care, some
experience great heartache and distress that aging can bring with it.
This is nearly always the case for those who suffer with Alzheimer's
and other related mental diseases or dementias.  Alzheimer's is
devastating for both victims and their families.

There is often a large gap between available, affordable care and the
extensive needs of some of those who suffer with Alzheimer's.  As
members of society, we are asked to care for one another and to
share our spiritual lights with those in need, and it is with this charge
to help relieve the suffering of others that Saint Paul's United
Methodist Church sponsors and supports The Alzheimer's Project.

The Alzheimer's Project was first incorporated as the non-profit
organization Alzheimer's Project of Tallahassee, Inc., in 1992.  In
2006, The Project celebrated 15 years of service to the Tallahassee
and Leon County community. On January 1, 2007, the Alzheimer's
Project combined services and resources with the Alzheimer's
Resource Center of Tallahassee to become the agency it is today.

The Alzheimer's Project proudly continues to provide ALL of its
services free of charge to qualified clients.
