The Alzheimer's Project, Inc. (APT)
exists to provide comfort, support, and
assistance to persons with memory
disorders and their care givers.  APT is
committed to serving the Big Bend
community of Florida through
education and training, in-home respite,
support groups, counseling, referral
to community resources, and pro-active
recovery of wanderers through the
Project Lifesaver program.

The Alzheimer's Project is a
non-profit organization funded by
grants and private donations.  The
Project is dedicated to providing
relief to the caregivers of persons
suffering from Alzheimer's Disease
or other memory impairment.  ALL
services available to the caregivers
are provided FREE of charge.

The goal of the Project is to keep
the caregivers healthier, both
physically and emotionally, to
prolong the abilities of the
caregiver, and to delay
institutionalization of the patient.
History and Mission Statement of
The Alzheimer's Project, Inc.
In 1991, guided by the influence of Reverend John Fletcher, Saint
Paul's United Methodist Church introduced a Christian outreach
program we now call The Alzheimer's Project.  As Christians and
Methodists, Saint Paul's adheres to the tenets of "The Social
Creed" which includes a commitment to the "rights of the aging" and
"the improvement of the quality of life."

Even with the advancements in science and medical care, some
experience great heartache and distress that aging can bring with it.
This is nearly always the case for those who suffer with Alzheimer's
and other related mental diseases or dementias.  Alzheimer's is
devastating for both victims and their families.

There is often a large gap between available, affordable care and the
extensive needs of some of those who suffer with Alzheimer's.  As
members of society, we are asked to care for one another and to
share our spiritual lights with those in need, and it is with this charge to
help relieve the suffering of others that Saint Paul's United
Methodist Church sponsors and supports The Alzheimer's Project.

The Alzheimer's Project was first incorporated as the non-profit
organization Alzheimer's Project of Tallahassee, Inc., in 1992.  In
2006, The Project celebrated 15 years of service to the Tallahassee
and Leon County community. On January 1, 2007, the Alzheimer's
Project combined services and resources with the Alzheimer's
Resource Center of Tallahassee to become the agency it is today.

The Alzheimer's Project proudly continues to provide ALL of its
services free of charge to qualified clients.
