Meet The Staff and Board
CEO
Bill Wertman is the Director of Alzheimer’s Project , Inc. and has been with the
agency since 2006 with a brief absence in 2008 to help coordinate the Geriatric
Education Center at the FSU College of Medicine.  Bill returned as Director in
February 2009 and is currently working on coordinating activities with the regional
rural communities in an effort to establish a strong caregiver support and respite
network in these areas. Bill has his Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from
Florida State University and is an adjunct faculty member with the FSU College of
Social Work.  Bill thoroughly enjoys working with a very dedicated, very caring
staff, a committed Board of Directors, and a strong and supportive caregiver
community.

Clinical Director
James Smith, MSW, has been on staff with Alzheimer's Project, Inc. since
December of 2007. His areas of responsibility include the training and education of
local assisted living facilities and nursing homes. He also facilitates support
groups, provides on-site counseling, manages the Project Lifesaver program
which is a pro-active recovery program for wandering Alzheimer's patients and
actively develops and manages the AP website. James loves the caregivers and
clients he works with as well as the staff of AP. To be able to work in an
environment where he is happy to be at every day, is more than he could have
imagined. An interesting fact about James is that he is an aspiring cartoonist and
photographer.

Volunteer Manager
Recie Culpepper has been with Alzheimer’s Project, Inc. since 2006.  Actually, she
has been involved in some way with AP from the beginning because she was the
Administrative Assistant at Saint Paul’s UMC when the decision was made to
begin the Alzheimer’s Project in 1991.  Recie’s duties, to name a few,  include
training volunteers for in-home respite as well as on-site respite at our Day
Respite Care at SPUMC, assist with support groups and working in rural
outreach.  Recie loves interacting with the elderly, as they are a joy to her.  She
also enjoys her co-workers very much and feels they complement each other by
the way in which they work. She feels very blessed to have the opportunity to
work in the environment she does.  Recie aspires to be the best mom and
grandmother possible and enjoys her children and grandchildren more than
anything. She also loves to travel with her B.S. group – that would be her “Bible
Study” group folks.

Respite Room Coordinator
Pat Raymaker has been with Alzheimer's Project, Inc., since October 2008. Her
background in the medical profession is her passion for providing respite to
families and providing a social club to those affected by dementia. As coordinator,
she plans activities for each weeks' respite room, as well as securing volunteers.

Office Manager
Karen James joined Alzheimer's Project, Inc. in October 2009, initially as a
volunteer. As office manager she writes letters of acknowledgment, assists with
Special Projects, takes phone messages, maintains office supplies and provides
assistance to the Board as needed. She enjoys cooking, reading and having a
cheery disposition.

Respite Room Coordinator
Geno Santopadre joined Alzheimer's Project, Inc. family at the beginning of March
2010. Geno supervises our Respite Program at Killearn United Methodist on the
1st and 3rd Monday of each month and Temple Israel on the 2nd and 4th
Wednesday of each month.
